Trip to the ATL and Tally

After exams were over, Mallory and I drove up to the ATL to visit Jared and Alyssa as well as the Rich family. It was a great time. When we arrived Friday night we went to a really cool brewery in downtown ATL. Saturday morning we woke up and had some of Alyssa's famous waffles before going exploring in downtown ATL which was a lot of fun. After checking out some parks and the CNN center we made our way over to Edgewater Trail where we got to catch up with Reagan Roo and finally got to meet Peyton. It was a great time. Sunday we loaded up and made our way down to Tally and Monday was spent getting a tour of Tally by Mallory which ended with a few drinks with her friends. All in all, it was a great trip

Had to enjoy some 40's since we were in Ga

I think we make a good team, don't you?

This past weekend was my fraternity's annual stranded trip. The way it works is the social chair plans out a two day one night trip for the chapter and you don't find out what you will be doing until you get there. This year we all thought we were going to be going to Orlando to go to an ice bar but instead, we found ourselves in New Port Richey on a Casino Booze Cruise. It was a blast. Mallory and I came away with close to 50 bucks. After playing at the Casino, we made our way down to Tampa where we checked in at a nice hotel and got ready to hit the clubs of Tampa. It was a great time had by all with plenty of crazy stories that only happen on road trips with a frat with  Parsa once again making things interesting for Mallory and I with his date selection...

Semi Formal

Last night Mallory's sorority, Phi Mu, had their annual Semi Formal at Rocky's Piano Bar downtown. Even though Mallory was busy doing her rounds as one of the sober monitor's, we still managed to have a great time! Makes me all that much more excited for Delta Chi Stranded in a few weeks!

GMFB

Yesterday marked my 3rd year helping out the Gator March for Babies 5K. Each year the Gator March for Babies organization (part of the March of Dimes) hosts a 5K to raise money that funds research to aid in the effort of eliminating the causes of prematurity. This year I got to be the event operations director and had a blast. The event went really well and we ended up raising over 75,000 dollars, a 10,000 dollar increase from last year! Im really looking forward to helping out next year, hopefully as the overall logistics director which my big brother served as this year.

One of my wonderful Asst. Directors, Mallory!

SoCo SoHard

Last weekend I had the chance to go to on my first SEC road trip to see the Gators take on University of South Carolina Gamecocks with the Cicerones. I had an absolute blast. On the way up I got to sip on some 40's compliments of the great state of Georgia and once in Columbia on Friday night we hit the town hard exploring their midtown type area known as Five Points.

On Saturday we were back at it at 9 in the morning due to the game starting at 12. The Cocks know how to tailgate but I think I showed them a thing or two, i.e. not being afraid to jump on the train that happened to pass through the fairgrounds where we were tailgating (I must add I didn't spill any of my 40)

After tailgating, we headed over to William Brice Stadium to watch the game. It was a beautiful stadium and even though we lost, we managed to have a great time.

After the game it was back to the hotel to freshen up before hitting the bars again. Once again we had a great time and before we knew it we were packing our bags to make the trek back to Gainesville. Can't wait to go on another road trip next year (hopefully the Boys of Ol Florida might have a little more fight in them next year!)

My C-Fam that went on the trip!

The Jax

This weekend marked my first Florida Georgia game and first time to Jacksonville and man was it a blast. Mallory and I headed up after class on Friday and got to Jax in the late afternoon. After checking in at the classy Homestead Hotel we made our way downtown to the Veterans Memorial stadium where we went to the Zac Brown Band Concert. The concert was awesome to say the least

The next morning we got up and made our way down to the waterfront to tailgate for the game. I must say, the Jacksonville waterfront is really picturesque. Once we found lot X, we made a day of it tailgating with my Delta Chi brothers, several of Mallory's sisters, as well as a bunch of Aidan's GDI friends whom our brothers forced to cook food for us which was hilarious. Needless to say, tailgating was pretty crazy.

After tailgating, we all headed down to the Jaguars stadium for the game. Our seats we're pretty decent located behind the south end zone and outside of it getting a bit cold and the loss, we managed to have a great time!

Young Money

Time sure flies. This past weekend I got the chance to go up to Georgia and visit my baby niece, Reagan Alisson Rich for her first B Day and for her baby sister's baby shower. It was a great time. I also got to spend some time catching up with my brother, sister, sister in law, and brother in law.

Reagan, whom I affectionately call Young Money, and I  had a blast. Check out that cake her dad made her!

It means brotherhood for those of you who don't know and its the perfect word to sum up how I feel right now. For the past three summers of my life I have disappeared to canoe country in the far Northland of Canada and Minnesota. It's one of those jobs thats just hard to really explain to people that haven't been there and even harder to judge the type of job you do. One that many think I'm crazy for doing.

For three incredible summers I've done my best to carry out my job, to provide a wilderness experience like no other. My summers have consisted of me taking out a group of youth aged 16-20 from all over the country on a two week excursion into the woods where one week is spent providing service to the trails used in the Northwoods and the second week is spent on a canoe trip. Throughout the entire experience I've always tired to challenge my participants to become a man of character; to know what their beliefs are, to stand up for them and to always be finding ways to improve upon personal flaws. This past summer I went to the Northwoods with one goal, to find a way to close out my Scouting career and change some lives while I was at it.

I finally can say I feel like I've done just that. Today I received and email from one of participants that only contained the following message "I think you've shaped me into a man of character...you were a fantastic role model and influence on my life, thank you."

Im so blessed to have had the experiences that I've had Up North and to have had support in working up there from my parents and Mallory.

"We have been Up North and part of us always will be..."

Fall's Finally Here

Ahh. Its hard to believe Fall is finally here. After a long summer spent in the wilds of Canada's Quetico Park and dreaming of the crazy times to come in the Fall, its hard to believe how fast this semester already seems to be flying by.

So far I've already gotten to enjoy

Rush
My 21'st B Day
Daytona Beach Getaway with my brother, sister in law, and Mallory
A Brad Paisley concert with Mallory
Crush Party and Phi Mu Ultra
and
3 Gator Home Games

All in addition too classes where Iv'e taken an exam in all my class (got a 95% on my most recent!). Fall 11' looks like it just may be my best fall yet and there's still so much to look forward too.

Young Money's first B Day (my sister's baby)
Homecoming with Alpha Chi Omega!
My first Florida Georgia Game
and
First SEC road trip to South Carolina

Best slow down and enjoy it before it flies by!

The boys of Fall (what remains of my family in D Chi)

So far Fall '11has  been filled with plenty of
good ol' Florida Football with Mallory
Decided to take another stab at this whole blogging thing. As opposed to blogging strictly about music or any one particular topic I figured I'd treat this as a place to just open up #leggo
